The NBHM scheme is a Central Sector Scheme (100% funded by Central Govt.) being implemented through National Bee Board.
Mini Mission-I : This mission concentrates on honey production Under this Mission, thrust is being given on production & productivity improvement of various crops through pollination assisted by adoption of scientific beekeeping.
Mini Mission-II : This Mission concentrates on post-harvest management of beekeeping/ beehive products including collection, processing, storage, marketing, value addition, etc. with a thrust to develop requisite infrastructural facilities for these activities.
Mini Mission-III : This Mission is focused on Research & Technology generation for different Regions/ States/ Agro-Climatic and Socio-Economic conditions. The major thrust areas of research for developing technologies are value additions in food products, honey and other beehive products and their quality control, development of quality nucleus stock, setting of disease diagnostic and treatment laboratories, role of honeybees in pollination of various crops and enhancing their yield and improvement in quality of fruits/seeds/products etc. Research in other innovative and technologies beneficial for overall development of scientific beekeeping in the country including studies on related to beekeeping, survey of floral conditions, and developing flora charts etc.
Develop and facilitate Honey Corridors in potential areas; promote agri-entrepreneurs & agri- startups for their involvement in beekeeping/ honey production.
Promote trade-agreements between beekeepers & traders/ honey processors/exporters, etc.
Disseminate latest and State-of-the-Art Technologies and skill development in the beekeeping industry for production of honey & other high-value beehive products.
Empowerment of Women through Beekeeping.
Maximize economic, ecological and social benefits by diversification through beekeeping by production of higher quantities and good quality of honey and other high beehive products, viz. bee wax, bee pollen, propolis, royal jelly, comb honey, bee venom, etc. for the domestic and export market.
Strengthen beekeepers by developing an institutional framework through collective approach, viz., formation of SHGs/ FPOs/ Beekeepers Cooperatives/ Federations, etc.
